Stunning Vaulted Ceiling Skimming for Mr & Mrs Kaminski in Bridgetown, Stratford Upon Avon

At Cooper Plastering, no ceiling is too high — quite literally! Recently, we completed a beautiful project for Mr and Mrs Kaminski at their striking home in Bridgetown, part of the vibrant Stratford Upon Avon community.

Their property featured a floor-to-ceiling glass entrance hall with a vaulted roof — an architectural gem that welcomes guests into their home. However, the original ceiling finish had started to show signs of wear, and the Kaminskis wanted a flawless, modern look to complement their contemporary glass walls.

The Brief

The project involved skimming the large vaulted ceiling to create a perfectly smooth, uniform surface that would enhance the natural light and grandeur of the space.

Given the height and complexity of the job, it needed a careful and professional touch to ensure a safe and high-quality finish.

The Process

• Preparation: We set up secure access using professional-grade scaffolding, ensuring complete safety and stability while working at height.

• Protection: The stunning glass walls were meticulously protected using sheeting and padding to prevent any damage during the skimming process.

• Surface Bonding: After a full assessment, the existing surface was cleaned and primed with a PVA adhesive to guarantee excellent adhesion.

• Skimming: Using premium-grade British Gypsum Multifinish plaster, two smooth coats were expertly applied, covering every inch of the vaulted ceiling.

• Finishing Touches: Edges were carefully hand-finished, and any fine detailing around beams and glass was blended seamlessly for a crisp, clean look.

Despite the technical demands of working in such a grand space, the entire ceiling was completed in just one day.

The Result

The newly skimmed ceiling is now smooth, flawless, and ready for a light coat of paint. It complements the dramatic glass walls perfectly, making the entrance hall even more open, bright, and welcoming.
