Beautiful Spare Bedroom Plastering for Nicholas in Bidford On Avon

The Brief

Nicholas wanted to update his spare bedroom, which was showing signs of age with uneven walls and a tired ceiling. As the room was destined for guests and occasional home office use, it was important to create a space that felt modern, clean, and welcoming.

He also specifically requested that the beautiful curved corners of the ceiling be maintained carefully, rather than squared off — a detail we were happy to preserve!

The Work

Day 1 to Day 2: Surface Prep and Skimming

• We protected the flooring and all entry points into the room to ensure a clean working environment.

• Existing cracks, blemishes, and imperfections were repaired, and PVA bonding was applied across the surfaces.

• The curved ceiling edges were carefully prepared to maintain their shape while ensuring a sharp, smooth finish.

• Over two days, we methodically skimmed the ceiling and all four walls, working around window frames and any intricate detailing to achieve a professional, crisp surface.

Attention to fine detail was key for this room — and the final finish was nothing short of spectacular.

The Results

Nicholas’s spare bedroom now boasts:

• Flawlessly smooth walls and ceiling ready for painting.

• Beautifully preserved curved corners maintaining the character of the original architecture.

After allowing five to seven days for the plaster to fully dry, the room was ready for decorating and furnishing — perfect for welcoming guests or creating a productive workspace.
